Day-by-Day Itinerary

DAY 1 — Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Arusha
Meet our representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to Arusha. The drive is approximately 50 km and normally takes about 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic and arrival time. The rest of the day is kept easy so you can recover from your international journey and prepare for the safari.

Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge, Moshono, Arusha
Accommodation: A comfortable Arusha staging lodge used for the arrival night before the northern-circuit safari begins.

DAY 2 — Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, approximately 120 km and about 2–2.5 hours to the main-gate area. Spend the day game driving among baobab landscapes, seasonal river systems and the park’s well-known elephant populations. After the safari, continue to Karatu rather than sleeping back near Tarangire. Depending on the exit point, the Tarangire-to-Karatu leg is roughly 90–120 km and about 2–2.5 hours. This forward positioning is deliberate so the following morning starts close to Ngorongoro.

Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge, Karatu
Accommodation: A highland lodge in Karatu, selected because it moves the route forward and provides convenient access to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

DAY 3 — Karatu – Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Crater Highlands
Leave Karatu early for Ngorongoro. Karatu is around 15–20 km from Loduare Gate; allow roughly 1–1.5 hours to reach the crater-rim area once the gate approach and formalities are included. Explore the Ngorongoro highlands, rim viewpoints and wildlife areas within the NCA. The crater-floor descent is planned for the next morning, giving guests two calendar days in the Ngorongoro area without forcing a rushed transfer.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Accommodation: A tented safari camp inside the NCA, keeping the group within the conservation area overnight and reducing backtracking before the crater day.

DAY 4 — Ngorongoro Crater – South Serengeti / Kusini–Ndutu
Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for the package’s planned crater-floor game drive. After ascending, continue west toward South Serengeti/Kusini–Ndutu. Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini is approximately 135 km from the Ngorongoro Crater area; allow roughly 3–4 hours depending on track conditions, wildlife stops and NCA formalities. The changing scenery from highland crater country to open short-grass plains is part of the experience.

Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: A safari glamping property in the southern Serengeti ecosystem/Kusini sector, positioned for Ndutu and seasonal migration-country game drives.

DAY 5 — South Serengeti / Kusini–Ndutu Game Drives
Spend a full safari day exploring the southern plains. Wildlife varies by season; during migration and calving months the wider Ndutu/Kusini region can hold large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra and predators, while resident wildlife provides rewarding viewing outside the peak migration period as well.

Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: Second night in the south, allowing the itinerary to explore the area without a daily long-distance transfer.

DAY 6 — South Serengeti / Kusini–Ndutu Game Drives
Continue with another full day in the South Serengeti/Kusini–Ndutu sector. Your guide adapts the day to wildlife movements, road conditions and seasonal concentrations, using the extra night to reach areas that would be impractical on a rushed transit itinerary.

Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: Third night in the south, creating the extended safari depth that distinguishes the 11-day itinerary.

DAY 7 — South Serengeti / Kusini – Central Serengeti / Seronera
Travel north toward Central Serengeti with game viewing en route. From Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini to the Seronera Airstrip area is approximately 75 km and around 2.5 hours by safari vehicle before extended wildlife stops. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the Seronera Valley and surrounding central plains.

Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp, Central Serengeti
Accommodation: A mobile tented camp in Central Serengeti, well positioned for Seronera wildlife areas and the next morning’s bush-flight departure.

DAY 8 — Central Serengeti – Seronera Airstrip – Zanzibar
Enjoy an early Central Serengeti game drive before transferring to Seronera Airstrip for the included one-way bush flight to Zanzibar. The exact departure time and any intermediate stop depend on the confirmed airline schedule. On arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, our island team transfers you to Stone Town, approximately 9 km and usually 15–20 minutes by road.

Overnight: Tembo House Hotel, Stone Town
Accommodation: A historic Stone Town hotel used for the cultural overnight before the beach portion of the package.

DAY 9 — Stone Town Walking Tour – Nungwi Beach
After breakfast, enjoy a guided 1–1.5 hour Stone Town walk covering Zanzibar history, Swahili culture, Indian Ocean trade, carved doors, heritage streets and shopping. Paid admission to ticketed sites is not included unless specifically stated. Continue to Nungwi after the walk; Stone Town to Nungwi is approximately 55–60 km and normally about 1–1.5 hours by road.

Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Accommodation: A north-coast beach hotel in Nungwi, chosen for an easy transition from safari travel into beach and pool relaxation.

DAY 10 — Nungwi Beach Leisure & Optional Short Experiences
Enjoy a full day at leisure with no compulsory excursion. Relax on the beach or by the pool, or add an optional short/half-day activity such as Mnemba snorkeling, a Spice Tour or Prison Island, subject to availability, conditions and additional cost.

Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Accommodation: Second beach night, preserving a genuine relaxation day before departure.

DAY 11 — Nungwi – Zanzibar Airport / Departure
Enjoy your remaining beach time according to the confirmed flight schedule, then transfer to Zanzibar International Airport. The road distance is approximately 65 km and the transfer commonly takes around 1.5 hours, with extra time allowed when traffic requires it.

All road distances and driving times shown are approximate planning guides. Safari-road conditions, weather, wildlife stops, gate procedures and traffic can change actual travel time. The scheduled Seronera Airstrip–Zanzibar bush flight is included; airline, departure time, routing and baggage allowance are confirmed at booking and remain subject to airline operation. International flights and ordinary airport-to-airport domestic flights not specifically listed as included remain excluded. Two calendar days are allocated to the Ngorongoro area with one planned crater-floor descent. Named accommodation is subject to availability; if a listed property is unavailable, Mo Tours & Safaris may use a carefully selected alternative of a comparable standard and route position. Zanzibar touring in the base itinerary is intentionally limited to the short Stone Town Walking Tour; Mnemba snorkeling, Spice Tour and Prison Island remain optional.
